In loving memory of Jean-Claude Gerard Laurin, AKA “J.C.”, 84 years who passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Center – Clarion Site. Beloved husband of 61 years to Gail Laurin (née Rodda). Loving father of Jonathan Laurin. Dear son of Eugene and Annie (née Robillard) Laurin both predeceased. Dear brother of Herve Laurin predeceased (wife Diane), Madeleine Blais predeceased and Robert Laurin (wife Karen). J.C. was an avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, atv riding, mapping out new trails in the bush, finding new lakes/fishing spots and organizing fishing trips. He loved building and creating things with his hands, rustic furniture, cabinets and wooden/metal structures. J.C. was very mechanically inclined, he fixed and maintained his own vehicles. He started at INCO in 1956, worked for 35 years with them and retired in 1991. He worked as a bonus miner for 21 years and a drill-doctor mechanic for his last 15 years. J.C. was always a loving father and husband. He was a proud and well-respected United Steelworker Local 6500 Union activist during his career and a SOAR member throughout retirement. He had many friends. Although he didn’t have any grandchildren, he had three grand cats that he adored very much. He also adored his many nieces, nephews, and their children. A special heart-warming thanks goes out to the extremely kind and caring staff at the St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Clarion Site for helping take care of him in his last few months. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 2pm. (Friends may gather after 11am Saturday, November 26th). Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Center or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
