It is with heavy hearts the
family of Jaunita Scott, affectionately known as
‘Onnie’, 74 announce her passing at the Georges
Dumont Hospital on April 4th, 2022. Born in
Harcourt, NB, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. Wry and Mary
Elizabeth “Betty” (Beers).
Jaunita worked at NBTel for over
29 years before she retired due to health reasons in her early
fifties. She was a highly respected employee who was widely
known as the person who knew every aspect of the job. She immensely
enjoyed retirement and took joy in telling her siblings while visiting
them at their places of work. While her list of health issues grew
year-after-year, she met each battle with strength, pure grit and
unwavering optimism. Jaunita was an avid reader and an amazing
seamstress. She had a love for shopping and gift-giving which we are
sure was the medication that ultimately healed her ailments in each
recovery. Jaunita was a talkative, spirited woman and all who knew her
soon learned that she could have been Sinatra’s inspiration
for the song ‘I did it my
way.’
Jaunita’s greatest
love was her family: her parents and spending Sundays in Harcourt
which she considered non-negotiable; her siblings of whom she never
failed to regularly check in with each of them; her husband from the
time he convinced her he was old enough to date her even though they
were only four years apart; and her son, Jeffery and his family of
whom were the joys of her life.
Jaunita will be sadly missed by
her loving husband of over 45 years, Dean Scott, her son Jeffery
(Tanya); grandchildren, Mackenzie and Nathaniel; sister Shelley
(David) Cail; brothers Dean (Bernice) Wry and James (Debbie) Wry;
sister-in-laws Judy Wry and Shelley O’Connell; her Special
Aunt Doris Legault; many nieces and nephews and extended family
members. In addition to her parents, Jaunita was predeceased by her
beloved brothers Wade and Dana.
The family would like to thank
the nurses and physicians of the dialysis unit at the Georges Dumont
Hospital for their years of kindness, compassion and care of Jaunita
during her illness.
In keeping with
Jaunita’s wishes there will be no visitation hours. Rev.
Alexander Sutherland will be officiating a graveside service will be
held at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens on Saturday, April
9th at 11am.
