Janet Akua Semenya 1946 2022

Obituary of Janet Akua Semenya
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Janet Akua Semenya on Friday, November 18, 2022.
Janet is survived by her beloved husband, Augustin and loving children, Bernard (Kairi), Antoinette (Aaron) and Samuel. Dear grandmother to Elyse, Estelle, Max and Sierra; dear sister to Charlotte in Canada and Ernestina in Ghana; Aunt and cousin to many others in Ghana and Europe.
Born in Ghana she lived there until she was 32, when she moved to Canada with her children, to join her husband and begin a new life. Janet worked hard and tirelessly over the years to give her children the opportunities she never had. Janet was a good friend to many and built a good life in Canada; however, she still longed for “home”. We hope she is home again now, at peace. She will be deeply missed.
The family invites guests for visitation on Friday December 9th from 6-8pm at GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 10th at 10:00AM at Scottlea Presbyterian Church, 515 Scott St., St. Catharines. This will be followed by her burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, 431 Queenston St., St. Catharines. If desired, please consider making donations to the Scottlea Presbyterian Church in honour of Janet.
