1937-2022
Janet Elizabeth Black, 85, formerly of Canaan
Forks, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the Jordan LifeCare
Centre.
Born in Prosser Brook she was a daughter of the
late Eldon and Mabel (Hayward) Geldart. For over 47 years she worked
alongside her husband Wendall as owners of W.P. Black and Sons Store
and Restaurant in Canaan. Family, friends and community were very
important to her and she enjoyed knitting and
crocheting.
Survived and sadly missing her are her sons Larry
(Cheryl) and Perry (Lisa); cherished grandchildren Ashley, Megan,
Danielle, Nathan and Alex and great grandchildren Joshua, Emma,
Kennedy, Harper and Carson. Survived also by sisters Phyllis Hicks
(late Harold), Carletta Corey (Fred); brothers Vincent Geldart (late
Diane), Merlen Geldart (Carolyn) and by nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Wendall, 2006, sister Helen Tilley and
brother Floyd Geldart.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rick Morton and
the staff of the Jordon LifeCare Centre for their kind and
professional care.
Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Rte
106 (372-4800) with visiting Sunday January 1, 2023 from 6-8
p.m. and from where the funeral will be held Monday, January 2 at 1
p.m. with Pastor Dave MacPherson officiating. Interment at the New
Canaan Cemetery.
In memory of Janet, memorials to the Canaan
Community Hall or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by
the family.
