It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Jane (Janie) Tavenor, 78, of Heart’s Content, who passed away at the Carbonear General Hospital on November 16, 2022 after a short illness.
Jane was born in Heart’s Content on March 9, 1944 to Herbert and Minnie Balsom.
In 1963 she married the love of her life, Howard Tavenor. They went on to have two children, Paul and Paula.
In 1971, the family moved to Kitimat, BC where they raised their family. After 30 years in Kitimat, Jane and Howard retired and moved back home to Heart’s Content, where they continued to be active in the church and in the community.
Our beloved Jane is predeceased by her parents, Herb and Minnie Balsom. Leaving to mourn, her husband of 59 years, Howard; son, Paul (Cathy), and daughter Paula (Clarence); grandchildren Cyle (Becky), Adrian (Sarah), Nicholas (Alliah), Ryan (Maggie), and Rachel; great-grandchildren Caleb and Shep; brothers Bob (Georgina) and Rick (Petrina); sisters Jean (Gerald) and Dianne (Eric); many nieces and nephews and their families; and a multitude of friends.
Visitation will be held at Green’s Funeral Home, in Winterton, on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
The funeral service will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Heart’s Content on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation.
