Jane McGeachy October 28 2022

Jane Allison (Ronson) McGeachy
1932-2022
Mom was an amazing lady with a tenacious spirit that ran deep. She loved having fun with her family and friends and was known to throw a great shindig in her time.
She was the only child of Laura and Allison Ronson. She attended Central School, Chatham Collegiate Institute and graduated from Nursing at Grace Hospital in Windsor. She married the love of her life, our dad, Neil McGeachy in 1957. Together they were blessed with a family, Lynn (the late David Willamson), Scott ( Sheila) and Susan (Bill Foran). Needless to say, we kept mom busy. She still had time to pursue her interests, sitting on the Board of the Children’s Aid, the Flora Campbell Auxiliary, the Junior Hospital League, the North Harwich Assisting Society and St. Andrew’s United Church whether it was decorating the sanctuary for important events, helping raise money to send kids to camp or delivering flowers. Mom was always ready to help.
She was a lady of many talents. She was kind and always interested in others. She welcomed those who came to the door, invited them in and served them a coffee at the kitchen table; the meeting place for most country homes.
Mom accompanied dad to many U.C.O events, entertained often and always had time for extended family events. No second thoughts required. She loved her family and it felt like a privilege to have them gathered together.
She hosted many foreign students who came to live with us who came through various programs to learn about agriculture in Canada. Mom was always well dressed but when it came to helping at the farm she was known to dawn some of the most interesting outfits be it for the tobacco or tomato field.
Through all that life handed mom she was a pretty good sport. She would tell us stories about the Pavilion at Rondeau, dancing cards and how she and her friends would park all their cars in a circle, turn on the headlights and turn up the tunes to dance the night away. She loved to share stories with her grandchildren, Kent (Allison), Meg (John), Katie (Dustin), Lauren (Josh), Ryan (Meg), Allison and Tristan. She looked forward to sharing life with her great grandchild Miles and more that are on the way. All the grandchildren adored her as much as she did them.
Family was central to mom’s life and she taught us always to love and take care of each other. We learned what was right and wrong and how we were expected to behave, unless we were able to get away with it. She was kind and gentle, bright, current and thoughtful. She loved to laugh and talk to everyone. She was a great lady with a lot of spunk and sass. We are truly thankful to have had her as a mom for as long as we did.
You are free of the “old body”. Dad is there, as is the old gang and the party is waiting.
We love you and will miss you always. Thanks for the great memories.
Thanks Mom (Gram).

  1. Memories of “Aunt Jane”
To Scott, Lynn, Susan and families, sending our deepest Condolences from the Lewis family of London. Aunt Jane will always be remembered fondly, where as we as children and on into adulthood and parenthood with our extended families, all the while Aune Jane (along with Uncle Neil for many years), served as an excellent family role model, fun loving and interesting, and always interested, empathetic and caring for all of our family over the many years.
Edithe and Jr and our entire Lewis family looked up to the McGeachys – Aunt Jane’s family as being people that you would aspire to be like, offering friendship, fellowship, solid Christian values, a zest for life and a simple downright warm heartedness that was unique and special. Jane would always make you feel welcome, genuinely cared about and at ease, no matter what the challenging circumstances may have been over decades of family interactions. With her husband Neils passing, Janes remaining years were especially difficult, however Jane remainted genuine, positive, kind and caring whenever you would speak to her or see her in person.
Aunt Jane will be sincerely missed, as she arrives in heaven to greet her husband Neil and other family who have also passed.
    With Love,
Brian and Kelly Lewis (Tori, Carson and Hayley).
