With great sadness, we announce the passing of Jane Elizabeth Pace at 74 yrs, treasured wife, mother, sister, aunty and friend. Despite a courageous and successful battle with cancer, Jane passed away unexpectedly on September 26th, 2022. Jane is survived by her loving husband, Ian, children Trish and Donald (Marivic) pet Molly, brother Brock (Sue), sister Ann (Allan) and as well as much cherished extended family and treasured friends.
Jane was born in Edmonton, AB, the oldest child to Pat and Frank Hobson. She achieved her dream of becoming an RN, graduating from U of A Nursing in 1969. Jane and Ian were married in 1969 and with Trish moved to Calgary in 1970 where Donald was born and then in 1981 to their present home in High River.
Jane found joy in simple pleasures; her family, her friends and her home. Jane loved watching her flowers come to life over the summer and enjoyed sitting out back with Ian, enjoying the view to Emerson lake and backyard. She has left behind an array of cookbooks with various notes, modifying and bettering dishes she had tried out.
Jane loved Christmas. Christmases were always full of trays of baking, which the family enjoyed for weeks into the New Year. Jane took great pride in her well-honed Christmas tree decorating skills and the family always had a Christmas scene gracing the house, which was inspired by a childhood family tradition. Music filled the house from Christmas Eve Day to Boxing Day.
Janes passion has always been her family and her most pleasurable times included events with as many family members. That included a variety of four legged individuals over the years who were as much a part of the family as anyone.
Jane enjoyed gatherings and get togethers with the Thrilling Threaders, where as much chatting was done as stitching. She has also enjoyed tea and walks with her friends, very proud in seeing her progress post cancer.
Jane and Ian enjoyed exploring a variety of destinations together when Ian was working overseas but really took pleasure in packing up the trailer and heading to a favorite mountain getaway for some rest and relaxation.
Jane, we know you weren’t ready to go. We would never be ready for you to go. We promise to honour you by living our lives to the fullest. The hole you’ve left will never be filled. We love you.
Heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at the High River Hospital and Tom Baker Cancer Centre for everything they have done for Jane over the last 3 years.
We will remember Jane’s life as the summer blooms in the Highwood Pass, 2023.
Caring for the family is Lyle Reeves Funerals of High River (403.652.4242).
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Jane Elizabeth Pace 2022..
