Jane Burnet McNulty
1954-2022
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of
our beloved Jane, on December 7, 2022 at the age of 68. Daughter of
(the late) John McNulty and (the late) Dorothy Burnet, Jane leaves
behind her sister Maureen (Trevor), her nephews Andrew and Patrick,
and her grand-nephew and niece, Kieran and Jamie. Jane was a cherished
friend to Norah, Ginette and Tony, Sherri-Ann, Dawn, Lisa, Sharon,
Brian, Devina, Pam, Tracy, Bobbie, Mike, Joyce, Johanne and Karen,
along with caring friends and neighbours at Woodman Grove, her UK
cousins, and so many more at home and abroad, whose lives have been
blessed by the gift of her friendship.
Born in Ghana, of Scottish heritage, Jane was a gifted
teacher who taught as much from the heart as she did from curriculum.
Her mission to empower children to believe in themselves and in all
that is possible, was truly inspirational. To watch her teach was to
witness LOVE in action.
Intellectually curious, adventurous, kind, and deeply
compassionate, Jane would seek and find the Sacred in all she did.
Whether it was listening quietly, or fiercely advocating, Jane always
found a spiritual way forward. She knew on a very deep level what
truly mattered. Words, quite simply, cannot express how deeply she
will be missed by those of us who love her.
Jane taught in Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, the UK, and Bermuda
before making her home in Nova Scotia. Each and every one of these
school environments is enriched by the indelible mark that she leaves
behind.
Her family and friends wish to express their tremendous
gratitude to Dr. Adam Clark and the ICU staff at Valley Regional
Hospital for their compassionate care, as well as Dr. Jenna McNeil and
the medical team at Valley Hospice. Jane was surrounded by love from
near and afar in her last days.
A small, private ceremony to honour Jane will take place in
Springtime. Donations can be made in Jane’s honour to the
Valley Hospice Foundation in Kentville.
An avid traveller, Jane was often at her happiest with
suitcase packed, passport in hand, a glorious flowy outfit on, and a
Sacred landscape awaiting her. As she turned to go, she would flash
that beautiful smile, big blue eyes shining, and say “I’m off
then.” And so you are, dear Jane. Safe travels, Lassie.
And if, when it is all over,
I’m asked what I did with my life,
I want to be able to say
“I offered LOVE”
