Obituary
BURKE, Jan: With family by her side, Jan died peacefully at her home completely surrounded by love on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 in her 56th year. Jan is survived and dearly missed by Eddie, her beloved husband of thirty years. She was the loving and devoted mother of Emily Patterson and her husband Troy, and Julia Burke and her fiance Tyler Barker. Grannie Jannie to soon-to-be born Baby ‘P’. Dear sister to Karen Parcels and her husband Paul, Deborah Toth, Anne Marie Verhoeven and her husband Rudy, Christine Clark-Collins and her husband Alf, and sister-in-law of Dan Burke and his wife Patti, Greg Burke and his wife Melodie, and Maureen Short and her husband Ron. Remembered lovingly by many nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late George Clark and Anne Stoklosar. Jan’s canine companions, Murphy, Oz, and Callie will miss her dearly. Jan enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a Dental Assistant in Peterborough, working the last twenty years in the office of Dr. Hiro Urabe. Throughout her lifetime, Jan had an appreciation for music and for many years sang in Sacred Heart Church choir. She was a faithful volunteer within the parish and served in various capacities including President of the Catholic Women’s League, Sacred Heart Auxiliary, and Chair of the Parish Council. She loved the outdoors, camping at Bon Echo, kayaking the waterways around Peterborough but above all, the most important thing in Jan’s life was her family. Sunday night family dinners in her home was what she looked forward to most. Her quiet, steadfast faith, courage, kindness toward others, and generosity of spirit will continue to be an inspiration to those who knew and loved her. Family and friends will be welcomed at HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE on Sunday, September 11th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Jan’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated in SACRED HEART CHURCH on Monday, September 12th, 2022 at 11:00am. Burial will take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
