JAMIE WARD
1958 – 2022
Mr. Jamie “Sputnik” Clarence Ward, age 64 years, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Monday, April 18, 2022 with the love of his life, Rosita (Rosie) by his side.
Jamie was born on January 5, 1958 in Fort William to Martha Ward (Johnson) and Wilfred Louis. He attended Selkirk High School. Shortly after he started his career with Iron Workers Local 759, Jamie suffered a back injury and unfortunately had to “hang up his belt.”
Jamie was a die hard Montreal Canadiens fan. He enjoyed hours on the lake fishing as well as camping, playing cards and bingo. He was an avid collector of native artwork, coins and jewellery. Jamie was well known for his leather and jean jacket, and his famous cut off sleeves. He was a firm believer of native medicines and traditional teachings. Jamie’s spare time was faithfully dedicated to caring for and helping others, but family was always his passion and #1.
Jamie will be deeply missed by his spouse, Rosie; daughter Lena Stettner (Russell) and his pride and joy, his only son Jamie Ward Jr.; brother James Ward (Mary Ellen) and sisters Patricia Charlie, Dale Ward (Shaun), Louise Ward (Wayne) and Colleen Ward-Howson, as well as his special cousin (who was more like a sister), Christine Boban (Tiny). He is also survived by his two god-daughters Stacey Wanzuk and Tyra Ward; special nephew Timmy Ward along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and his good friend and sidekick Alan “Gazoonie” Muzyka.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Renee Ward; his parents, Martha Ward and Wilfred Louis; siblings Johnny, Doker, Duzzie, Lolly and Shungy as well as his friend and “Baby Mama” Robin Andrews and numerous family and friends.
Funeral Services for the late Mr. Jamie Ward will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11:00am in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, officiated by Deacon Victor Pelletier. All of Jamie’s family, friends and others whose lives he touched are welcome to attend. Cremation has taken place and interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Jamie to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
