Obituary of James David Macbean Ross
Died peacefully at QHC-Belleville General Hospital on Tuesday, June 7th 2022 at the age of 82. David was born in Toronto to David and Jean Ross on December 24th 1939. He grew up and went to school in Lakefield, Ontario, graduating from Lakefield College School in 1957. After playing some hockey in Europe and working in marine construction, he finished undergraduate studies in Ontario (U of T and Laurentian) and graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1968. He briefly practiced law in Toronto before moving to Belleville in 1971, opening a practice on Front Street, where he remained for over 45 years. David loved his community of Belleville and Prince Edward County and spent countless days on the Bay of Quinte, summer and winter. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Lou, sons, Douglas (Alison) and Andrew (Leigh), grandchildren, Neilly and Charlie, and brother, Donald (Gretchen) Ross. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, Belleville (613-968-2273). A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ramada Harbourview, 11 Bay Bridge Road, Belleville, on Thursday, June 30th, 2022, from 4 – 6 p.m.
