A proud Merasheen boy, he cherished his childhood there, telling many fun stories particularly with his brother Dick. He loved his weekends and summers at his cottage in Colinet and many fishing and camping trips with family in our younger years.
He was always proud of his 30 years working on several ships in the fleet with the Canadian Coast Guard based in St. John’s but travelled extensively in Europe USA and all of the Eastern seabord. He happily served his country in the Royal Canadian Air Force for ten years. He loved to tell us all the stories of his many trips and exploits.
His extended family meant everything to Jim. He ensured we all had everything we needed and every opportunity to be successful. He guided us through our challenges and celebrated our accomplishments. He was so very proud of all the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
