Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of James in this 75th year in Revelstoke BC.
He was predeceased by his parents Rudolf Joseph (1974) and Minnie (nee Lynch) (2002). He is survived by his brother Kenneth (Stella), his Godchildren Rebecca and Jessica, and many nieces and nephews.
James was born in Banff, Alberta to Minnie and Rudolf McKinnon and grew up in the beautiful mountain town of Field, BC. Many adventures were had and stories of growing up there are still laughed over when friends get together. He attended school in Field, BC and started working for CP Rail on June 9th, 1964, for the Mechanical Department. He transferred to Operations and then transferred between Field, Golden and Revelstoke in various positions. James retired from CP Rail on July 27th, 2003, in Revelstoke with 38 years of service.
James’ passions and interests included pit crewing with the Golden Dream Racing team and Baby grand racing team which brought him to many racetracks in Canada and the USA. He also enjoyed many years going to car shows and cruising with the Golden and Revelstoke car club in his Pontiacs, most recently with his 1962 Pontiac Parisienne. He would go on road trips that would take him to many beautiful places and allow him the visit with friends that he grew up with.
James will be deeply missed by his many friends, his daily coffee group, his caring neighbours, and especially his family as he was always there for us in so many ways.
A burial announcement will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice in his memory.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of James McKinnon November 25 1947 June 27 2022 (age 74)..
