SILVERTHORN, James “Jim” 1944 – 2022
With broken hearts and much love for Jim, we announce his passing, after 3 difficult years with health issues, at Greater Niagara General Hospital. Survived by his beloved wife of nearly 54 years, Kathleen (nee Thomson), his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rick and Marie Chapman of Oakville, and his brother-in-law Robert Thomson and his sister-in-law Sadie Thomson of Niagara Falls and special adopted family Joanne, Sarah, Rachel and Milly. Jim is also survived by nephews Matt, Rob, and Ryan (Courtney) and niece Christina and husband Terry Latanville and great nephews Nathan and Nolan Latanville, of Oakville. He will be deeply missed by his many cousins. Pre-deceased by his parents Leslie and Myrtle Silverthorn, sister and brother-in-law Diane and Arnold Bradley and nephew Edward Bradley. After graduating from Ryerson University, he joined Ontario Hydro in 1968 and worked there under Hydro One until his retirement in 2002. Jim was a loyal soul, a man of great integrity and he treated everyone, rich or poor with the same respect. He like wood-working and was an all-round Mr. Fix-it. Many people benefitted and learned from his wisdom. Rest in Peace Jim. Donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or Autism Ontario South Region are greatly appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls.
