James “Jim” Parkalub passed away peacefully on January 12, 2022, at Newmarket Manor in Tisdale at the age of 87. Jim was born November 15, 1934 in the Tisdale district. He attended elementary school in Eldersley and progressed to high school in Tisdale. Jim was involved in the family farm at a young age and built a successful career doing what he loved. He never officially retired and remained active on the family farm.
One of Jim’s greatest achievements was pitching for an Eldersley men’s fastball league as a young teenager. He was an exceptional pitcher with a strong arm and won many games and tournaments in Saskatchewan. Jim was an avid curler and also enjoyed small town dances, billiards and visiting with family and friends.
Jim is survived by his brother, Michael (Marie) Parkalub and his nieces/nephews, Brenda (Darren) King (Kevin/Kaila, Carly), Lori (Dallas) Fitz, Dave (Tamara) Parkalub (Kayla/Jeff, Brianne), Evelina Mysko and Julian Mysko. Jim was predeceased by his parents Mary and Jack Parkalub, Mike Tretiak, his sister Anne Mysko, and brother in law John Mysko.
As per James’ wishes, there will be a graveside service on Saturday January 15, 2022, at 11:00 am followed by lunch at the Tisdale Golden age Centre.
We will honour the current Saskatchewan Covid restrictions that are in place which includes masking, social distancing and sanitizing. Please respect and practice these safety procedures.
