September 21, 1940 – January 22, 2022

James (Jim) passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side. Born in Halifax he was a son of the late Albert and Henrietta (Rose) Smith.
Jim was employed 35 + years as a member of the I.L.A. Checkers Union. The majority of those years he was employed at Oceanex Terminal and Halterm Ltd. Jim was an avid outdoorsman. When he wasn’t fishing or hunting, he was telling one of his many stories. (some may have been repeated). Jim was a huge Merle Haggard Fan. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Beverley “Barb” (Barnard), Fall River/Lower Sackville; daughters Debbie (Mike) Fulton, Victoria BC, Donna (Gary) Burgess, Sackville, Brenda, Lake Fletcher and Sandy Wellington; sons Jim (Joanne), Fall River and Robert, Princeport; sister Joan Luxton, New Albany and Dianne Hubbard, Sackville; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by daughters Patricia and Cara in infancy; daughter-in-law Glenda; brother John; sisters Vivian and Helen.
A private family memorial service and burial will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend thanks to all, for their kind words and support. A special thank you to daughter Donna and grand daughter Emily for their loving care in his final days.
