“There’ll be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear, no more sickness, no pain, no more parting over there”
Surrounded by his children, Doug passed peacefully away on September 2nd, 2022.
Doug spent his life in Corner Brook, close to his family and friends. His dedication to helping others was felt far and wide. He opened his home to many visitors and new-comers to our province, assisting them with housing, gathering donations, and making sure they were taken care of.
He was a hardworking man who loved his family very much. He built a home he was proud of, and enjoyed many hours in his garage. Doug was well known in the community for his admiration of yard sales. He gathered a hefty collection so that if anyone needed anything, they knew who to call.
Doug will always be loved and remembered by his four children: Kimberly (Barry) Canning, Tanya (Wayne) Morris, Rodney (Tanya) Tapp, and Jeremy (Jacinta) Tapp; his nine grandchildren: Kelsie, Taylor, Jacob, Mackenzie, Claire, Anna, Jonah, Christian, and Isaac; great-grand daughter: Quinnley; sister: Brenda Ryan; brother: Raymond Tapp; sister-in-law: Wanda Tapp; and special cousin: Cathy Murrin. Doug is predeceased by his mother and father: Alice and William Tapp; sisters: Greta, Geraldine, and Evelyn; and brother: David.
A special thank you to Doug’s best friend, Donny Hynes, for always being there, for the hours spent together, the compassion, kindness, and friendship you showed. It meant the world to Doug and his family. Also, thank you to the doctors and staff of Western Health, the home care providers, and so many others who helped over the years. Thank you for the dedication and for providing such great care to our father.
At Doug’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home on Monday, September 5th, 2022 from the hours of 7-9 PM. Interment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Make a Wish Foundation (www.makeawish.ca) in Doug’s memory.
