James Cloninger “J.D.” – age 77 of Kodak passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022. J.D. as an active member was the oldest Deacon of Stoney Point Baptist Church where he served and taught for a lifetime. Retired from ASARCO with 44 years of service.
Preceded in death by parents, John and Ruby Cloninger; and brothers, Willis Cloninger, Jerry Cloninger, Gary Lynn Cloninger.
Survived by wife, Karen Cloninger; son, Doug (Trish) Cloninger; daughter, Angela (Bryan) King; grandchildren, Andrew (Brittany) Kuykendall, Sarah (Leo) Shropshire, Joe Cloninger, and Josh Retherford; great grandchildren, Sophia Kuykendall, Samuel Kuykendall, Christina Kuykendall, and Austin Shropshire; brothers, John Carroll Cloninger, Jr. and Tim Cloninger; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, July 29, 2022, at Stoney Point Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 7:00 PM with Rev. Wes Pursiful and Rev. Randy Troutman officiating. Family and friends will meet 12:45 PM Saturday at Trentville Cemetery for a 1:00 PM interment. Pallbearers: Travis Parrott, Cale Parrott, Dale Ballard, Gene Russell, Samuel Kuykendall, and Joe May. Honorary pallbearers: Rick Keener, Gary Woodby, and Jimmy Cates.
