James’ Obituary
Halliday, James Burton – 75, formerly of Canning, New Minas, and Victoria Beach passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Jim was no stranger to hard work. He worked many jobs including mason’s helper, deckhand for the Bedford Institute, scallop boat hand (Freeport), and farm worker. Whatever job needed to be done to earn a dollar and look after his family, Jim was willing to do it. His last employment was for John Lohr in Canning. Jim was the beloved husband of 52 years to Claire, Nictaux; father to Lisa (Franco) Bazzarelli, Edmonton, AB and Jeffery Halliday, Kentville; loving grampy to Alex and Daniel Bazzarelli, Edmonton, AB. Also surviving are his brother Ronald, Greenwich; sister Darlene (Tom) Ellis, Victoria Beach. Predeceased by his parents, Burton Lee and Alberta Mae (Everett) Halliday; brother Russell and sister-in-law Beverly. Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2022 in the Pereaux Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Mark Parent officiating. A reception will follow the service and all are welcome. Interment in Habitant Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain Lea Lodge for their wonderful care of Jim. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 1-855-825-3448.
