James Brown Stephen
December 28, 1943 – July 5, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that the family of James Brown Stephen announce his passing on July 5, 2022.
Jim, as he was so fondly known, passed away peacefully at Granite Ridge Care Home after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Jim was surrounded by his family as angels took him to his final resting place. Jim was the beloved husband of Moira (nee Young) and was a loving father to both Joni Poplawski (Patrick Fedor) and Karen Stephen (Ian Crockett). Cherished grandpa to Kaighla and Arrilyn Poplawski. Son of the late Peter and Cora (nee Brown) Stephen of Aberdeen, Scotland, younger brother to Peter (Margaret) Stephen and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Jim will be sadly missed by his family and countless friends. Jim’s smile, humour, and strength of character will always be remembered. He was known for being extremely thoughtful and kind, hardworking, and always there to offer a helping hand. Jim was highly involved in sports and was past President of the Glens Falcons Soccer Club and a lifelong member and Captain at Greensmere Golf Club.
Friends and family may pay their respects at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, located at 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean, ON, on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11am.
Those who are unable to attend in person a livestream will be available.
A special thank you to all of the staff at Granite Ridge for their care and support to Jim over the past couple of years.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing may make a donation in Jim’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society or to the Ottawa Humane Society.
