Jaime Lynn Hampson 2022

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Jaime Lynn Hampson of Sturgeon County, Alberta on June 23rd, 2022 at the age of 44 years.
She will always be loved and remembered by her husband of 21 years, Bryan; son, Emmett; sister Lori Coleman & partner Stephanie Hooft; nephews Greydon & Dane Lea; father Lorne Coleman & partner Ingrid Dollery & the entire Coleman family; mother Ann Dunbar and husband Bob & the entire Dunbar and Schmaltz families; mother in law Eleanor Cross, father in law Lorne Hampson and wife Kit & the entire Hampson family. She will also be dearly missed by her lifelong close friend Bernice Rennie and numerous other friends and relatives who loved and adored her. Including lastly (but not least), the family miniature weiner dog Olive.
She was predeceased by her unborn daughter Daphne in 2009; grandparents Fredric & Katherine Coleman; grandparents Carl & Catherine Schmaltz; her beloved Auntie Sharon Mitchell; and step mother Jean Coleman.
Jaime was born in Peace River, Alberta on May 9, 1978 and spent her early childhood years living with her family in Grimshaw, Alberta. Her family moved to the Stony Plain area when she was 12 years old. During this time, she went to school at Blueberry School and graduated from Memorial Composite High School, where she met some important friends, including close lifelong friend Bernice Rennie. Many of these friends would remain her friends throughout the rest of her life.
Jaime always held a passion for chemistry and she completed the Chemical Technology program at NAIT. Afterwards, while working as a chemical technologist, she met the love of her life, Bryan, in 1999. They fell deeply in love and were married on a beautiful beach in Montego Bay, Jamaica in 2001. On July 6, 2006, Jaime gave birth to their son, Emmett. Her heart was so full of joy to have that new passion in her life, Emmett, to take care of. Jaime easily decided to become a stay at home mom, so that she could give everything she had to raise Emmett to allow her and Bryan to be able to give him the best upbringing that they could. Being a mom was her biggest passion and words cannot describe how great of a mom she was to Emmett.
During Emmett’s elementary school years, Jaime volunteered relentlessly with countless activities at Sturgeon Heights School in St. Albert, where Emmett went to school. She loved working with the kids and staff so much, she even became a teacher’s aid for a couple years. Jaime’s positivity, caring, sense of humor and overall good nature allowed her to meet numerous great friends at Sturgeon Heights that became very important friends in her life. Friends that were other staff members as well as other parents. She cherished them all, as they did her.
Jaime loved travelling with Bryan and Emmett on family vacations to places like the Hawaiian Islands, a few of the Caribbean Islands and even numerous trips to the stunning, close to home beauty of Jasper National Park. She cherished trips to Jasper with both her family and friends. She was always thrilled every time she could go stay at the Jasper Park Lodge with her family or her friends for girl’s weekend getaways. The lodge was one of her favorite places to be. But her number one place to be was always home on the acreage in Sturgeon County that her and Bryan worked hard to make their family home and a beautiful place to raise Emmett.
In 2014, at the age of 36, Jaime was diagnosed with breast cancer and spent the next 8 years fighting the disease. She chose to fight every day with a smile on her face and astonishingly strong positivity. She was a true inspiration to all that knew her.
Memorial donations in Jaime’s name can be made to the Cross Cancer Institute and/or the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
A celebration of life will be held on July 10, 2022 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the University of Alberta Botanic Garden (previously known as the Devonian Botanic Garden), just north of Devon, AB on Highway 60. For those planning on attending, the venue for the event is about a 10 minute walk into the botanic garden site, so suitable footwear is recommended. Cart shuttles will be available for those unable to walk into the venue. The event will be held mostly outdoors. It will be held in a covered area if it rains, but bringing umbrellas is also recommended. Home – University of Alberta Botanic Garden (ualberta.ca)
Jaime’s husband, Bryan, would also like to give special thanks to Dr. Mackey and Dr. Tenkel at the Cross Cancer Institute for all their compassion, caring and efforts to help Jaime throughout her fight. She truly appreciated them.
Hang on to the memories. If we have memories of Jaime, then we never lose her. She deeply affected so many people and she will live in their hearts forever.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Jaime Lynn Hampson 2022..
