À la mémoire de
Jadwiga Chamot
13 avril 1927 –
11 juillet 2022
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.
Jadwiga was born in Beresowiec, Poland to parents Wojciech and Anna Golab. After spending her early years in Poland, she was resettled during World War II to the USSR, the Middle East and then to Africa, where she spent her teen years. Following the Second World War, Jadzia and her family travelled to England where she met her late beloved husband Boleslaw Chamot. They were married in 1951. Soon after, they immigrated to Toronto, Canada for a new beginning. During their 69 years of marriage, they raised five children.
Jadzia was fiercely independent and strong. While raising a growing family, she also worked at Rowntree MacIntosh until her retirement. She was a devout Catholic, a long-standing member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, and a member of the Companionship of the Rosary (Towarzystwa Rozancowego). She was also an avid gardener, a skilled seamstress and an animal lover. On her daily walks, she befriended many people and their pets. She remained a dedicated puzzler despite her failing vision.
Her legacy lives on in her family: 5 children: Helen Kozinski (Chuck), Mary Robinson (John), Teresa Clow (Rod), Ted Chamot (Kim Coles) and Dana Chamot (George Owttrim), 13 grandchildren: Jennifer, Lisa, Carolyn, Mark, Kim, Paul, Erika, Katie, Zachary, Joshua, Christophe, Michael and Kevin; and 12 great-grandchildren: Sidney, Lindsay, Caitlyn, Matthew, Mackenzie, Justin, Tyler, Isabella, Joseph, Corrine, Rannen, Gwen, and one more on the way. We would like to thank all the kind people who supported her, especially in her later years. It was a comfort to her and her family and helped to fulfil her wish to die peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 PM with recitation of the rosary at 7:30 PM on Thursday July 14, 2022 at Turner and Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas Street W., Etobicoke.
The Funeral will take place at 10:00 AM, Friday July 15, 2022, at St Stanislaus Kostka Church, 12 Denison Avenue, Toronto.
