“Jack”
Beloved husband of Mary Burch-VandenBerg, passed away at the Stedman Community Hospice on Friday March 4, 2022. Jack was born on December 2, 1934 in Barendrecht, Holland. He was predeceased by his parents Jacobus and Glorina; his brothers Bas (Tiny) of California, Bart and Airie in Holland and his sister in law, Willie VandenBerg of Lynden. Left to mourn his passing are his brothers Peter of Lynden, Dick (irene) and sister Tiny VanGorsel; his sisters in law Janny and Agnes as well as a special cousin Barabara Blaak all in Holland. Jack is survived by his children Jim (Rita) of Ennismore, Mark (Sara Jane) of Hawkstone and Sylvia (Mark) pf Orillia, as well as his grandchildren, Michael of Australia, Daryl of Ennismore, Rachael Lynn of Guelph, Tasmine of England and Luke of Vancouver. As well as many nieces and nephews in Canada, the U.S.A and Holland. Jack will also be missed by Mary’s family, Susan Thomson and family of Kelowna, BC, and Dave (Sue) Burch and family of Thorold as well as Mary’s sisters, Loreen (the late Dave Osborne) of Ingersoll, Ruth (Paul Quinlan) and brother Wayne (Sandra) Kerr of Brantford. Jack came to Canada in 1953 to be with this brother Peter. He settled in Toronto for a few years and later lived in the Oakville area and later in Midland. He moved to Brantford in 2011 where he met Mary. He was a member of the Libertarian Choir for a number of years and a member of Paris Presbyterian Church. Friends will be received at the McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Road N. Brantford on Tuesday March 8, 2022 from 6-8 pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday March 9, 2022 from 12 – 1pm. Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 1 pm. Cremation to follow. In keeping with Covid-19 protocol, face coverings are mandatory. Many thanks to Drs. Healy, Wright, and staff of the BGH Cancer Clinic and nurse Marg and the wonderful staff at Stedman Hospice. Donations maybe made in memory of Jack to the Stedman Community Hospice or to Paris Presbyterian Church, Renovations Fund.
