Jack Palmer 1943 2022

Obituary of Jack Palmer
It is with immense sorrow that we say a loving goodbye to the patriarch of our family. Jack passed in the early morning on June 24, 2022, in his 79th year.
He is mourned by his wife and high school sweetheart, Bonnie, of over 60 years, his beyond adored daughters, Sharlene and Rochelle, his son-in-law Kevin and his treasured grandchildren, Sarah, Samantha, Hudson, and Autumn. He is predeceased by his mother, Alma, and his sister Gail, and he will be missed by his extended family and friends.
Jack grew up in the foster care system and soon learned that nothing was more important than a loving family. It became his purpose in life to ensure that his family would always have his love and support. This was evident when he became a father figure and mentor to his two eldest granddaughters, Sarah, and Samantha. His involvement in their lives will leave a lasting and significant impact in their hearts.
Jack was an avid golfer, and you would find him teeing off at Scenic Woods Golf Course from early May to late October. Some of his happiest moments were his Saturday afternoon golf games with his grandson, Hudson and his son-in-law, Kevin. The three of them shared a love for the game of golf and these memories will be cherished.
He was the epitome of what a Papa should be. He was the grandchildren’s Uber driver, their biggest cheerleader at their sporting events and beyond generous to a fault. He would reach deep into his pockets to put a smile on their faces. Jack lived for family get togethers whether it was a summer pool party, a barbeque, a special birthday, or magical Christmases. His presence will be greatly missed.
Jack fought his cancer with strength and dignity over the past eight years. The one person who reminded him of his purpose in life was his youngest grand daughter Autumn. She could always bring a smile to his face and her warmth, compassion and witty humour kept his spirits alive.
Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kevin Zbuk at the Juravinski Cancer Centre. He walked alongside Jack throughout this long journey and offered his compassion, his care and guided Jack through many difficult decisions.
We are saddened that Jack will no longer share our days with us, but his legacy of endless loyalty and love of family will live on in his grandchildren.
Our family would love to come together with Jack’s many friends and family to celebrate his life, but we are honouring his last wishes for a private family celebration. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society at the Juravinski Cancer Centre. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
