Jack Aquilla Smith – June 10, 1939 – November 13, 2022
With sadness, the family shares that Jack Smith of Evansburg, Alberta passed away peacefully on November 13, 2022, following significant health challenges.
Jack is remembered with love by his special friend – Pat Marfleet and his four daughters – Mary Jane (Ervin) Quinney, Leanne Dekker, Peggy Mason, and Katherine Dekker along with his 6 grandchildren – Brandee (Jeff) Kienzle, John (Jamie) Quinney, Bradley (Tammy) Mason, Russell (Keshae) Quinney, Neil (Amanda) Mason, Ryan (Crystal) Mason; 13 great grandchildren – Brooke (Tristan), Jordan, Brody, Mia, Summer, Lane, Levi, Isabel, Bethany, Jax, Zac, Avery and Scarlet; and 1 great-great grandchild – Kade. Also remembering Jack are 2 brothers – Gordon Smith and Stan (Diane) Smith and many nieces and nephews and long-term friends.
Jack was predeceased by his wife Kathleen, son-in-laws Barry Mason and Cameron Wilson, his parents Agnes Jean and Frank Orvil Smith, sisters Ellen Wylie, Lois Vignal, and Jean Stewart, and brother Orvil Smith.
In keeping with Jack’s wishes no formal funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Drayton Valley Hospital Foundation (www.dvhealthfound.ca) in recognition of the compassionate care they provided to Jack since his hospitalization in June 2022 or to another charity of your choice.
