Jack Britsky
(1949-2022)
It is with great sorrow that Jack’s family announces his passing on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the Selkirk General Hospital at the age of 73 years.
Jack leaves to mourn his wife, Debbie; son Regan (Aimee); daughter Kelsey (Brad); grandchildren Maria, Jake and Sophia; his mother in law Caroleigh; sister Darlene and brother Donald (Katherine); sister in law Phyllis (Derek) and niece Veronica. Other nieces and nephews in mourning are Krista and family, Kelly and family, Amber and family, Travis and family, and Callum and family.
Jack has gone to join his heavenly family, son Tyson ; brother Rae; parents, Leon and Doris; brother in law-Merrill; father-in-law-Neil as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.
He also leaves behind many long term friends from where he lived and worked, Ochre River, Winnipeg, The Pas, East Selkirk, Petersfield and Clandeboye. He was so fortunate to find such great friendships that have lasted over the years. He enjoyed every one! He had three cats that miss him dearly.
Jack was a farmer at heart! Whether it be on the family farm where he grew up in Ochre River, or his own farm in The Pas, or through watching farmers in the area as they worked through the different seasons. The smell of the land, the operation of the big equipment and the growing of the crops was always of a strong interest to him.
Jack was also an entrepreneur, he enjoyed retail business and the friends and acquaintances he met along the way. He worked for Acklands Grainger in The Pas and Winnipeg (20+ years), then he owned and operated the Petersfield General Store for 10 years before he retired. During his retirement he had a chance to visit with friends, go camping at Gyles Park and the Winnipeg River as well make a few Vacation trips. A game of cards was always something he enjoyed as well as a glass or two of Gibsons.
Jack spent lots of hours working in his yard, preparing the land for a garden and cutting wood for heat in his shop for winter projects. His latest passion was fixing his assortment of lawn mowers with a group of friends.
The family would like to thank Dr Alexander and the second floor medical staff at the Selkirk General Hospital for the excellent care he received. His care as well the care our family received during this difficult time was above and beyond. We couldn’t have made it without you!! Thank you!!
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring at the Petersfield Hall.
