J. Cornelius “Corn”‘s Obituary
MUISE, J. Cornelius “Corn” – age 82, Yarmouth, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, April 29, 2022 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born October 5, 1939 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Arthur and Cecilia (LeBlanc) Muise. Although most people will remember Corn as a natural-born salesman, he actually began his working career as a school teacher. He went on to work at Dominion Textiles, Alwood Products, the Maritime Fishermen’s Union, and then as a salesman for 20/20 Electrical and finally as a salesman for Gary Goudey Auto Sales, where he was still working two weeks prior to his death. A man of great faith, he was a member of New Life Church, Yarmouth, and was a firm believer that we are all children of the one same God, no matter your religion. He was also involved with AA, Toastmasters, and the Matthew 18 prayer group. He had a passion for reading and he enjoyed walking and looking at pictures of his grandchildren every day. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth M. (Corporon) Muise; their children, Yvette Sweeney (Larry Muise), Peter (Monica) Muise, Cory Muise, Nicole Surette, Amy (Wayne) Ross and Jennifer LeBlanc, along with his grandchildren, Curtis, Emily, Lynn, Heather, Alysha, Raileen, Natasha, Crystal, Justin, Josh, Jordan, Braydon, Conner and Will, and his great grandchildren, Haydon, Harper, Harrison, Annalise, Finn and Emmitt. Also surviving are his three sisters, Rose, Simone and Margot, all of Ottawa, Ont. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, J. Arthur “Artie” Muise. In accordance with Corn’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium in Yarmouth. A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m., Monday, May 2 at New Life Church, Pastor Larry Pennell officiating. Interment will follow in the Tusket Cemetery. It has been requested that there be family flowers only. Donations in memory of Corn may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice. Death notice for the town of: Yarmouth, Province: Nova Scotia
My condolences to you Ruth and your large family! Everyone knew Cornelius. We were in Toastmasters together and both enjoyed our Frenchie jaunts, but I’ve known him all my life and have known him to be a very faithful Christian and one who did not mince his words to express his faith. He would basically say what many of us would have liked to say but didn’t. It saddens me to think of your pain after having spent most of your life together with a man who loved you very much and it was evident that it was mutual. He would refer to you at toastmasters as his wonderful wife Ruth. on the other hand I am happy that he has made his way back to his heavenly home where he will be his best self and live in peace and joy for eternity and where you will meet again one day.
. God’s peace be with you all.
