J. Clifford’s Obituary
DOUCETTE, J. Clifford – age 84, The Meadows Home for Special Care, Yarmouth, formerly of Morris Island, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2022 in the home. Born December 14, 1937 on Robert’s Island, he was a son of the late Eddie and Madeline (Muise) Doucette. Clifford was a scallop fisherman all of his working life. A passionate outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and four-wheeling and could always be seen in the company of his loyal dogs. He also loved playing cards and will be remembered as a quiet, kind and generous man who was always up to a challenge. He is survived by sisters, Louise Moulaison, Gladys (Robert “Bob”) Thibodeau, both of Yarmouth; Carol Arsenault, Jean Muise, both of Morris Island; Jane (George) Pierce, Yarmouth, as well as by a brother, James (Joyce) Doucette, West Pubnico and many nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Florence Haley and his friend, Joyce Gallagher. Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, with prayers at 3 p.m., at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 5 from Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, Surette’s Island, Deacon Bruce Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. It has been requested that there be family flowers only. Donations in memory of Clifford may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or to St. Joseph’s Church Fund. The family would like say a special thanks to “his girls” at The Meadows, as well as to Dr. Tom Muise and the staff on 3-South and 4-North who cared for Clifford during his recent stay at the Yarmouth Hospital.
