Ivy Keating 2022

Ivy’s Obituary
Keating, Ivy Susanne – 78, Oxford, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022 in North Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Pugwash. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Patricia (Carter) Mattinson. She is survived by daughters, Gail White, Connie (Glenn) Pettigrew; son, Michael (Lorraine); grandchildren, Holly, Angela, Shenya, Tiffany, Julie and Jenna; great-grandchildren, Thai-son, Pierce and Meisha; sisters, Helena Gordon, Helen (Garry) Parks, Mildred Mattinson (Jim Spivey) and Lorraine (Lionel) Ruttan; special friend, Dianne Herrett. She was predeceased by husband, Gerald “Jerry”; son, Stephen; granddaughter, Becky; brother, Linton. Mum was a loving caring woman, never wanting anyone to go without. She spent her life caring for her family, babysitting children and finally doing home care. She loved knitting and crocheting, making beautiful blankets, tablecloths and other items to give away. She enjoyed playing rummoli, 45’s and crib with friends at OPH. She enjoyed her last game of crib with Glenn Morris. Once she received her scooter, she gained an independence she hadn’t had before. She traveled the roads of Oxford on it and absolutely loved it. Mum was an animal lover and loved her fur grand babies. The family would like to thank Dr. Blaikie, Dr. Short and Martha Underwood along with the nurses and staff at North Cumberland Memorial Hospital for the loving care and support they provided. We felt like we were with family, not in a hospital. All the inappropriate conversations fit perfectly with our sometimes inappropriate family, thank you. Visitation will be from 2-4 Monday, October 24 in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home and Crematorium. Interment will follow immediately after in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
