It is with great sorrow that the family of Ivan Šimunec announce his sudden passing on Monday, December 26, 2022 at the age of 78.
Ivan will be forever missed by his loving wife of 43 years; Andja, children; Maria, Marko (Josipa), and Steven, beautiful grandchildren; Nola, Viggo, Antea, and Maja, as well as his numerous nieces, nephews, dear friends, and extended family all over Croatia, Hercegovina, and Canada.
Ivan was predeceased by his parents; Stjepan, and Maria Šimunec, and his older brother; Stjepan Šimunec.
Ivan – who was also known as Ivica to his close friends and family – was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who valued his family and genuine friendships above all else. He knew how to appreciate the beauty of life; nature, quality time with loved ones, shared laugher, and strong embraces. Ivan truly lived his life to the fullest, and will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A Prayer Service will take place on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 7:00 PM, at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street NW, Edmonton.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, at Nativity of Mary Croatian Church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
