Isobel Robertson April 7 1930

Isobel Robertson April 7 1930February 25 2022

With her family by her side, Isobel Robertson peacefully left us to be with her beloved husband, Frederick.
Isobel was also predeceased by her parents Sophie and George Stewart and her son-in-law Edmond Asselin.
Left to mourn are her children; daughter Debra Asselin and son Victor (Diane) Robertson. Her grandchildren; Robert (Karen) Chymy, Angela Chymy, Ryan Chymy, Paul Robertson and Mandy Robertson. Great- grandchildren; Grace, Kellen and Brandon, Sister Nan (Bill) Kerr and nephew Wayne Stewart.
Isobel was born in Winnipeg and raised in the west end. She went to high school at Daniel McIntyre. She enjoyed numbers and skating. Her dad bought her a pair of speed skates and she would skate at the Sargent Park speed skating oval.
After leaving high school her enjoyment of numbers led her to work at various places as a comptometer operator (a key driven calculator). She worked at the Bay, Eatons, Canada Packers, and Dominion Bridge. She also taught comptometer operating.
Isobel met the love of her life Fred Robertson and they were married in 1951 at Home Street United Church. In 1953 they bought a home on Lock St. in Weston where they had many dear friends. Isobel and Fred were active members of Sparling United Church and had a host of friends. In 1960 they had their first child Debra and in 1962 their second Victor.
During their retirement years they fulfilled a lifelong wish and travelled to Scotland twice. They loved to golf, walk, and enjoyed going out to dine, especially at their favorite restaurant Ray and Jerrys. Isobel and Fred would take weekend trips and enjoyed taking their grandchildren with them. Fred would sit at the poolside reading his paper while Isobel swam with her grandkids.
After Fred left her in 2005 Isobel kept active with the church and various day programs. She kept her independence and her sharp mind throughout her life. She loved to play crib and almost always won. Her son, daughter, and daughter-in-law were often left in awe of her uncanny skill and luck. As she became less and less mobile her love of sports increased. She enjoyed watching the bombers, jets, and curling.
At the age of 91 we lost Isobel a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will always be loved and remembered.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of the people that cared for and became wonderful friends to Isobel throughout the years.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life has been planned for April 16th, 2022 at 1:00pm, Bourkvale Community Centre, 100 Ferry road.
