Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Isabel Compagnon on Sunday, January 23rd, in her 86th year, at Corner Brook Long Term Care Center.
Isabel lived a very full life with lots of love and a very strong faith that she held onto until her last moments. Mom lived faithfully, cared deeply, and was one of the sweetest women we have ever known.
She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children; Valerie Lambert (Sherwin), Arlene Carmody (Chuck), Sandra Park, Delores Roy (Paul), Alphonsus (Karen), Mary Costello, Geraldine Whitely (David), Joseph, Ben, Michael (Marifel), Peter (Adrienne), Anne Locke (Darren), Viola Boardman (Brad), and William (Tina). Also, her 20 grandchildren and her 9 greatgrandchildren.
Isabel was born on Woods Island on April 3rd, 1935 and later resettled in Benoits Cove where she was a teacher. She was married to Valmour in Curling 1956. They were married for 56 years until his passing in 2012.
Isabel was predeceased by her husband, Valmour, on March 24th, 2012; her parents, Charles and Agnes Hackett; her in-laws, Loyola and Geraldine Companion; her son Garland; and her three siblings: Mildred, Joan, and Jack.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at the Long-Term Care 3 North. Thank you for all the tender care you provided to our mom. She felt so much love from you all and it was very evident in Mom’s last days.
Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 26th, 2022 from the hours of 7 – 9 pm; private, family and friends, by invitation only. The funeral service to take place at Our Lady Star of The Sea Benoits Cove on January 27th, 2022 at 10:30 Am with Father Jim Robertson officiating; private family and friends, by invitation only. NL Vax Pass will be required for both. Interment to follow at Church Cemetery. Flowers are graciously accepted; donations can be made to Our Lady Star of The Sea Church Fund.
