Irene Lenora (Robinson) Russell passed away peacefully at Passamaquoddy Lodge on Monday, January 31st, 2022.
She was born to the late Harry and Rose (Whiffing) Robinson of Milltown, N.B. on July 9, 1927.
Irene graduated from Milltown Superior School in 1944 and upon graduation worked at the Cotton Mill until it closed. She then held a variety of local jobs over the years including Coloroll, Garcelon’s Stamp Office, The Queen Theatre and Lonicera Hall.
For many years she and her husband Harold were devoted harness racing fans who never missed a Saturday at Exhibition Park in Saint John. Every Sunday Irene faithfully attended the morning service at Kirk McColl United Church and then enjoyed going out for lunch with her friends.
Irene was predeceased by her husband Harold and her sisters Hazel Nickson and Ruth Leavitt. She is survived by her sister Joan Boyd.Having had no children of her own, she is fondly remembered as a devoted and caring aunt to all her nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Passamaquoddy Lodge for their warmth, compassion and outstanding care during her stay there.A graveside service will be held later this year at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in memory of Irene can be made to Passamaquoddy Lodge or a charity of one’s choice.
