Our family is saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Iona Starr after losing a battle with Covid-19. Predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years Harold Starr and son Wayne Starr and his wife Krys. Survived by daughters June Starr and Joyce Delong (Albert), brother Burton Loney (Donna); grandchildren Angela Starr, Harold Delong (Kelly), Tammy Delong (Victor Richer), Shauna Starr (Doug Harrison), Amanda Starr (Brandon Bailey) and Joshua Starr. Great grandmother to Alexis and Stephanie Delong, Drake and Cora Shellswell, Bonnie Harrison, Danika Bailey and step-great grandmother to Tanis Richer. Predeceased by siblings and their spouses Joyce McArthur (Dan), Vera Keetch (Fred), Goldy Loney (Blanche), Mildred Douglas (Lanoris) and Muriel Loney.
Iona was a long-time resident of Oro-Medonte for 68 years followed by 8 years at Simcoe Terrace. The family wishes to thank the staff of Simcoe Terrace for their loving care.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Friday, August 5th, 2022 at 1 pm. Funeral Service to take place inside the Chapel at 2 pm. Interment to follow at the Edgar East Cemetery (Old Methodist). Please note that a facial covering will be required to attend the visitation and service at the Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Iona’s memory may be made to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre or to Hospice Simcoe and are greatly appreciated by the family.
