Dieppe – It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Roméo Gaudet surrounded by his loving family at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont UHC, on December 28, 2022, at the age of 75. Born in Cormier Village (Gallant Settlement), he was the son of (the late) Maximilien Gaudet and (the late) Philomène (Poirier) Gaudet.
Roméo is survived by his family who meant the world to him, his loving wife of 49 years Alva (born Landry) formerly of Cap-Pelé, a son Brian (Cathy), a daughter Chantal (Nicole) Cormier and his beloved granddaughters Anabelle and Gabrielle, all of Dieppe, his sisters Edna Gaudet (Résidence O’ Bon Soins) and Rita Daigle (late Yvon Daigle) of Petit Pré, sisters-in-law of the Gaudet family, Yvrette of Saint-André, Norma of Grand-Barachois and Jeannette of Cap-Pelé, and, of the Landry family, his brothers-in-law Jean-Guy (Émilie), Roger (Dianne) and Michel, a sister-in-law Jeannine all of Cap-Pelé, a brother-in-law Elphège (late Crissy) of Rogersville as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.
Besides his parents, Romeo was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Clairice, Réginald, Anatole, Gloria, Joseph (Joe) and Alma McGraw as well as a nephew Shawn Landry.
A hard worker, he was very proud of his accomplishments. At the age of 16, he discovered his passion for trucks and began his career alongside his childhood friend, Ronald Gagnon, as a truck driver for Edmond Gagnon Ltd. Having held several positions in heavy equipment throughout his career, he was very proud to count 28 years of service, until his retirement in 2018, for MacDonald Paving (Miller Group) as a Loader, Crusher and Rock Truck Operator.
A simple, loyal and patient man, he gave everything for his family. His greatest pride was his family, his children and granddaughters Anabelle and Gabrielle. A great storyteller, wherever he went, he always found someone to talk to. During summers at the trailer, he was often in the gazebo listening and dancing to old Rock and Roll. Everything was “Right On” as he would say.
Visitations will be held at Passage – Chartersville, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023 from 1:00pm until 3:30pm. Funeral service will take place at Sainte-Thérèse RC Church, 457 Acadie Ave, Dieppe, at 4:00pm.
