It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Germaine Pinet Drapeau, at the age of 102, residing at Faubourg du Mascaret in Moncton.
Born April 9, 1920 in Paquetville, NB, daughter of the late Dosithé Pinet and the late Olga (née Landry) Pinet.
Following a short hospital stay, she passed away on Friday morning May 20, 2022.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albenie (February 3, 2015) and her daughter Laurette (August 27, 2020), as well as: eight sisters: Elodie, Diana, Geneviève, Sr. Marie Josée, Corinne, Evangéline, Thérèse and Mary; five brothers: André, Léonard, Jean-Louis, Joseph and Dominique.
She leaves in sorrow, but also with wonderful memories, her children: Jean Marc (Diane) Bromont, Quebec, Armel (Denise) of Edmundston, NB and Conrad (Liz) Toronto, Ontario; her grandchildren: Vincent (Marie-Chantal) Montreal, Philippe (Julianne) Saint-Bruno, QC, Alix Eve (Quebec) and Iza, Moncton; Decay (late Todd) Toronto; her great-grandchildren: Ethan and Charles; as well as several nephews, nieces, and friends. Without forgetting two nieces: Denise Thériault and Rose Marie Audet who were a great support to her. She also leaves to mourn her large Faubourg du Mascaret family, residents, and staff. She was one of the first residents to live there in the summer of 2017. A big THANK YOU.
I think everyone will remember our mother as the one who walked a lot, was very alert and aware of current events, often liked to play cards and go to the “Place Champlain” shopping center. Above all, she liked to see people, it had to move.
Her great kindness and her willingness to help or be of service brought her closer to people.
Germaine was a dedicated teacher for 36 years in many schools in Restigouche County. She has been a mentor to several teachers who were just starting out. She listened to her students and was a good confidante for many of them.
She liked to get involved everywhere. At school, she conducted plays, was part of the teachers’ committee. In the community, she was part of several committees including “les filles d’Isabelle”, the credit union and many others.
Our mother liked to play the piano, accompanying our father on the violin. She loved singing, choirs and she had a very beautiful voice. She was very fond of music and dancing.
Mom, you leave us very saddened by your departure. We will continue to think of you, with the values of respect, integrity, accomplishment, generosity, and kindness, but also simplicity that you and dad have so humbly bequeathed to us. You have always been very autonomous, independent, and very informed until the very last moment of your life. You will also be remembered for your dynamism, your determination, your willingness to socialize, your alertness and your sense of humor. You are now joining your sweet and humble husband, our dad, Albenie, as well as your daughter, our sister, Laurette, who left much too soon. This thought soothes us.
Thank you, mom, for your love and generosity. As you have often told us: “We had a very good life. »
And above all, don’t worry, we will continue to have family reunions every year.
With much Love, your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and your many friends.
I would like to thank Doctor Comeau and Doctor Christèle Thériault, as well as the staff of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center in Moncton who took care of our mother and who took the time to call us personally to inform us of our mother’s situation. A huge THANK YOU to the person who accompanied my mother and who had just recited a novena and was still holding her hand as I entered the room.
Her funeral will take place on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 3 p.m. at the Saint-Francois-Xavier Church, CHARLO.
