Born in Moncton on August, 1943 she was the daughter of the late Fidele Richard and Cecile Doiron. Marries Ronald Cormier on June 20, 1970. Died suddenly at her residence at Sunset St., Dieppe, on Thursday, May 12, at the of age 78.
Besides her husband of nearly 52 years, Ronald Cormier, she leaves behind a brother, Alcide Richard (Claudia), of Dieppe, four sisters, Florine Goguen (Raymond), Francine Wedge (Bobby) and Julia St-Amand, all of Moncton, and Huguette Dufresne of Dieppe.
She was predeceased in the grave by two brothers, Ernest and France, as well as two sisters, Zita and Yolande.
Aunt Carm was also greatly appreciated by dozens of nieces and nephews in New Brunswick, in Ontario and in the United States. For them Aunt Carm was like a second mother. Even children which were not family sometimes called her Aunt Carm.
She was particularly proud of her fake grandson, Colin LeBlanc of Notre-Dame-de-Kent, who she babysat from age one until kindergarten. She will however not have the privilege to see her Little Colin receive his medical degree in a few weeks.
She worked for a number of years as a telephone operator with NB Tel in Moncton and was employed with the Department of National Defence beginning in 1975 until the base closed in Moncton in October 1975.
For a number of years, she helped organise a Christmas fund raising dinner for Crossroads for Women sponsored by les Dames d’Acadie de Moncton. She later became a member of the Dames d’Acadie de Dieppe.
She enjoyed her numerous trips to Europe with her husband where they made numerous friends.
She will be remembered for her simplicity, her generosity and her friendship.
