At the Macassa Lodge for seniors in Hamilton, ON, at the young age of 97 years, 2 months short of her 98th birthday, Ann “Annie” (Boucher) Leger, passed away peacefully in the presence of her POA, Mr. Hoover and his wife, after having received the last rites of the Catholic Church.
Born in Lewisville, NB, on August 28th, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Sylvain Boucher and the late Dora LeBlanc. After the premature death of her mother, Annie and her two younger brothers relocated to Chartersville (Dieppe), along with her father who had remarried to Eleonore LeBlanc in 1937.
Annie worked as a saleslady at Eaton’s in Moncton. In October 1946, after the WWII ended, Ann married Camille Leger, home from overseas at the Saint-Anselme Church. They moved to Toronto, where Ann worked as a security agent for Eaton’s and Camille as a CNR employee. After retiring, Stoney Creek became their home, spending winters in Florida. After her husband’s death on August 24th, 2013, Ann spent the last five years of her life at the Macassa Lodge in Hamilton, with dementia, still smiling and enjoying visits from her half-sister, Eva-Mae “May” and being pampered by the wonderful staff of the Macassa Lodge.
Besides her husband and parents, Ann was predeceased by her brothers: Laurie Boucher (Eileen) of Dieppe and Alfred “Teddy” Boucher (Madeline) of Dartmouth, NS and by her half-sister, Patricia Boucher of Dieppe.
She is survived by her only living relative and half-sister, Eva-Mae “May” Bourque (Paul) of Dieppe, as well as many nieces and nephews from the Moncton and Dartmouth area.
Cremation has taken place in Stoney Creek, her remains will be placed alongside her husband at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in Dieppe, NB, with a private graveside religious ceremony.
“Rest in peace, dear godmother and big sister for spoiling me, your “kid sister”, your favourite blue colour and flower, “Forget me not” will forever live in my heart.
