  1. Inez and June taught me quilting at the first “Quilter’s Academy” classes at Threads That Bind and many classes thereafter. She was a very talented quilter and such great fun. I learned a lot from her and it was clear she loved to laugh. It would be a rare day that I ever sit down to sew now and do not hear Inez’s wisdom and teachings along with her funny anecdotes.

My very favourite Inez story is one I often share with other quilting buddies to this very day, and it always gets a laugh.

Inez told us, her students, that if we wanted to buy some fabric and found we might be a little short in our quilting allowance, we could always cut into the grocery budget for the week in order to purchase the fabric. |”Just cut back on the meat and add extra pasta to the casserole.” I can still see her smiling away and proclaiming, “They’ll never know and you’ll have your fabric!”

When I think of Inez, I think of a most delightful, sensible, smart woman. And, oh my, what a beautiful quilter!

Just in case you ever thought your mom’s casseroles were a little short on meat, now you know why.

I am so sorry for your loss.

  2. To Inez’s family: Inez was one of my first quilting instructors. She was a strong, funny and helpful person. I am happy that I participated in the drive by her home on the occasion of her 80th birthday near the beginning of the pandemic lockdown. She certainly deserved the recognition by so many people. May you remember many good times with Inez as you grieve your loss.
