In Loving Memory
Ila Vidito (Tufts), 96, died peacefully in her sleep, with family at home on October 31, 2022
Ila was born on July 25, 1926 in Simpson’s Corner to Elva and Hebert Tufts. She spoke about her parents, siblings and her years working at the factory and how they were some of the best years of her life.
Ila was a member of the Nictaux Baptist Church and Choir for many years and got enjoyment by playing hymns at hospitals and nursing homes with her band. She liked to be busy and would frequently be knitting for the ladies auxiliary, volunteering at church functions or planning a trip down South. She enjoyed playing tunes on the piano, guitar and accordion and often shared her harmonica skills with everyone that visited her.
Ila was always crafting or creating something unique out of items most would throw away. She loved bright outfits (the more colours, the better). In her family she is most known for all of the painted rocks she created, her love of shoes and costume jewellery.
Ila is predeceased by her husband, Lawrence, son, Wendell and granddaughter, Lori. She is survived by her daughter, Bernadette (John) Pearson, Middleton; Bernard Vidito (Jolanda), Halifax; Vaughn (Heather) Vidito, Heartland, NB and her grandchildren, Andrew, Dorothy, Melissa, Meredith, Avril, Genevieve, Shana, Jennifer and Gina.
Thank you to the VON for your care over our Nanny and Mom. Your compassion and dedication will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia, Cystic Fibrosis Nova Scotia or Nictaux Baptist Church – organizations that meant a great deal to Ila.
