Ila Ruth Thompson Thursday October 6th 2022

Ila Ruth ( nee Asselstine) Thompson passed away October 6th, 2022 at the beautiful age of 95. The matriarch of our family and the bond that held all of us together over her lifetime. Ila is survived by her caregivers of 21 years, Kevin and Maureen Thompson and by her daughter Bonnie Sweet and son Ron Thompson. She was pre-deceased by her husband Harry Thompson in 1996, her daughter Valerie in 1956 and son Brian in 2009.
Ila was the 2nd oldest child of Archie Asselstine and Clara Illife, and is survived by her sister Marjorie Manser and brother-in-law Garrie Manser. Ila was pre-deceased by siblings Dorothy VanBlaricum, Myrtle Maskell, Lewis Asselstine, Ben Asselstine, Dora King and Charles Asselstine.
Ila leaves behind grandchildren Melissa Metzke, Scott and Cory Thompson, Christen and Matt Sweet, Kent and Nathan Thompson, along with 8, almost 9 great grandchildren. Ila is fondly remembered by Linda Rowe and Cindy Bagnell. Ila will be remembered by many nieces and nephews and cousins across the Asselstine and Thompson family tree.
Visitation will be held at Wartman Funeral Home, Napanee on Wednesday, October 12 , 2022 from 6-8 pm. Interment at Glenhaven Cemetery in Glenburnie at on Thursday, October 13, 2022 11 am prior to service. Memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 1 pm with reception to follow.
Friends desiring may contribute to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Arthritis Society or L&A Hospital Foundation in memory of Ila. On-line condolences at www.wartmanfuneralhomes.com.
