Obituary of Ian Stevenson Barclay
Barclay, Ian Stevenson
Ian passed away on Thursday May 26th, 2022 at the Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in Orillia in his 88th year. He is now reunited with his wife Mary (married 55 years). He is survived by his partner Marg Hall, for the last 10 years. Loving father to Lynn (Brian), Christine (Dan), Neil, and John (Brenda). Proud and loving grandfather of Adrian, Melanie, Sean, Chance, Victoria, and Jaden. Dear brother of Liz (Ian), Alan and Robert (Ena) – both predeceased. Ian will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, family and friends. Ian immigrated from Rutherglen, Scotland in 1957. As the story goes, Ian came to Canada at the age of 22 with 100 dollars in his pocket. He was a carpenter for the University of Toronto for years and eventually became a building inspector with the city of Etobicoke. Ian and Mary lived in Georgetown for many years where they raised their family and eventually retired to Orillia to be close to their son Neil. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Soldier’s Memorial Hospital for their excellent care and compassion, especially nurse, Supriya. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or services at this time. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Christian Horizons through the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St E Orillia (705) 327-0221.
