Ian Hyde 1930 2022

Obituary of Ian Hyde
Ian departed to his heavenly home, at the age of 91, after an eight day stay at the Grace Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Rae, who resides in a Winnipeg Personal Care Home. They have been married for 57 years.
Ian will be lovingly remembered by his siblings: Frank (Mavis) Hyde, Eleanor (Rudolf) Schlick, and Jack (Hazel) Hyde; and his nieces & nephews.
Ian was born in Lowe Farm, MB., to Nicolai Heide & Anne Goertzen.
He was predeceased by his siblings: Henry, John, George, Louella, Anne and Sarah.
Ian graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Education. After teaching for one year (1958-1959) at Selkirk Collegiate, he found it too difficult to continue, a childhood illness had caused significant hearing loss which made his communication skills more difficult in a classroom.
Ian then began working for the Federal Manpower Employment Agency in Winnipeg. Here he met Connie Rae, whom he married on June 12, 1965, in Virden, MB., which was Connie’s hometown.
Several years later Ian and Connie moved to Humboldt, SK., where Ian became a Manpower Manager. Later they moved to Regina where he worked for Health and Welfare Canada. Ian was a Field Representative for Social Service Programs, New Horizon and Senior’s Independence. In 1990, they moved back to Winnipeg when he retired.
Ian and Connie enjoyed traveling to western and eastern parts of Canada and into the US. They also traveled to Mexico, Israel, England, Spain and Portugal.
Ian usually had a home improvement project underway to keep him busy. The produce from his backyard garden was used by Connie to make delicious soups and other dishes.
Ian loved his dogs over the years. The birds and the squirrels also received special attention.
Ian faithfully attended a Baptist Church as his health allowed and made time for Bible Study. Both Ian and Connie supported the charitable organization Bridges for Peace, with the work they do in Israel.
After selling their home, Ian and Connie moved into an assisted living suite, July 2019, called Lindenwood Manor. We are so grateful for their care and providing extra help when needed.
We want to thank the emergency and 5 North Grace Hospital Staff for their compassionate care for Ian.
Cremation has taken place, as per Ian’s wishes. No memorial service will be held. At a later date his ashes will be buried at the Virden Municipal Cemetery.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Ian
