Hugh “Hughie” Gerard McVicar
1959-2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected
passing of Hugh “Hughie” Gerard McVicar of Rollingdam NB,
which occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on
February 5, 2022. Born in Blacks Harbour NB on August 13, 1959, he was
a son of the late Arthur and Beatrice (MacVicar) McVicar. A loving
father, grandfather, brother and friend, Hughie is survived by his
children: Andrew McVicar of Saint John NB, Zack McVicar (Sally Mcadam)
of Pleasant Ridge NB, Aileen McVicar (Kyle Shannon) of Tower Hill NB
and Vanessa Tinker (Chris Sprague) and her children of Eastport ME;
grandchildren: Maddy, Lilly and David; siblings: Patti McVicar of
L’Etang NB, Geri Johnston of Utopia NB, Debbie (Peter) Cormier of
Blacks Harbour NB, Mary McVicar of L’Etang NB, Jacqueline (Russell)
McVicar-Ferguson of St. George NB and Bessie McVicar of L’Etang NB;
chosen brother: Chris (Vicki) Lord of Rollingdam NB; and many nieces,
nephew and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by
his daughter in infancy: Natasha; brothers: David McVicar and Fred
McVicar; sister: Cindy McVicar, nephews: Jody McVicar, Michael Linton
and Braden Cooke; brother-in-law: Raymond Johnston; and his best
friends: Donnie Young and Kenny Matthews.
Hughie was a simple man who lived to love and support his
family. He spent many hours on the road as a trucker and loved to have
his children in the cab beside him when they were able. Hughie had a
great sense of humor and had a way of telling you how it is. A friend
to all he met, Hughie will be sadly missed by all.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home
(755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. A graveside service will
be held at the Rollingdam Cemetery on August 6, 2022 at 11:00 am. In
his memory, donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation would be
appreciated by the family.
