Hilda Bouma passed away peacefully on October 28 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Trail, BC on January 2, 1933.
Hilda, an only child, grew up in East Trail where she enjoyed spending time with friends at Gyro Park. During high school, she got her first job at the Company Store.
She met and married her one and only Sydney Bouma in 1951 and together raised their 5 children in Montrose. Even while being busy raising her own family, she fostered several children loving each one as her own. Hilda became a young widow at the age of 45 then at the age of 50 went back to school at Selkirk College to obtain a Long Term Care Aide certificate. For the next 10 years, she enjoyed working at Kiro Manor, loving both the residents and her co-workers.
Hilda had many passions but above all she loved Jesus and dedicated her life to His service. She was active in her church (Trail Alliance) where she was a Pioneer Girls Club leader for many years. In later years, she volunteered for Trail Hospice and was president of the Beaver Valley Seniors Society. She loved her many wonderful trips with her long-time friend, Marian Leith.
Hilda will be remembered by her family for her unending love and devotion, warm hugs and smiles, welcoming home, fresh homemade buns and cookies, ceramics and abundance of family photos.
Hilda spent the last 9 years living at Mountainside Village where she made many friends and introduced them to many games and activities.
Hilda is survived by her sons; Lawrence (Margaret), Greg (Janice), and Derrick (Holly), her daughter Charlene (Dave), her 11 grandchildren; Jared (Laura), Ryan, Adam, Erin (Justin), Jennifer, Shauna (Ryan), Tara (Yoeun), Erik (Morgan), Luke (Alexa), Ben (Charmaine) and Emily, her 4 step-grandchildren; Renee, Eric (Jenn), Robert (Karolyn) and Sean (Carla),7 great-grandchildren; Jasper, Brinley, Logan, Mali, Jaxon, Maddon and Tate and her 3 step- great grandchildren Elizabeth, Alexander and Max.
