Olley, Herbert William October 27, 1933 – February 24, 2022.

Although we mourn the loss of Herbert, we rejoice and thank the Lord for the 88 years He has given him to us. Dearly beloved son of the late Herbert and Johanna (Pfeifle) Olley. Beloved brother of Joan and dear cousin of Bill Pfeifle and the late Bill Braunlin, as well as cousins in England and Germany. Bert was a life-long dairy farmer and grape grower in Thorold, retiring in 1998 due to health reasons. He was one of the original members of the St. John’s Volunteer Fire Department. A child of the 1930’s, he was our go to person for his vast knowledge of life on the farm during the war years. A super big brother who took the time to take a sick family pet to Guelph in the middle of the night and to drive his sister on wintery nights to classes at Niagara University. He will be sorely missed. The family would like to thank Dr. Ansari and Care Partners – Annette, Colette, Emma, and Lynn for their excellent care. As well as the staff of 3A St. Catharine’s Hospital and the caring staff at Royal Rose for Herbert’s care the past few months. You are very much appreciated. A special thank you to Pete Bronn, Grant Teal, and Pastor Matt Wiley for their many visits. Bert loved his animals and in recognition of this, donations to the Welland & District Humane Society can be made in his memory.
