Henry Froelich 1928 2022

FROELICH, Heinrich Roman (Henry)
Born on September 15, 1928 in Kamien, Poland and died peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London, Ontario on November 11, 2022. Dear husband and best friend of Maaike (Hoeksema) and dear father of Karen Froelich (Garry Pittman) of Hanover, Ontario, and Norma Froelich of Marquette, Michigan.
After graduating in Physics from Technical University of Berlin (1954), Heinrich completed his M.Sc. (1958) and Ph.D. (1962) in Physics at The University of Western Ontario and was then a Physics professor at Western until he retired in 1994.
He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Alice (Lebrecht) Froelich, and his sister Irene Mills and is survived by his brother Theo Froelich (Margaret) and brother-in-law Karl Mills. He is also remembered by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.
Heinrich was an avid reader and had many interests. From his reading and life experiences he had a broad knowledge about many topics, and he always wanted to learn more. After retiring, he had more time for his gardening, genealogy, and photography. He was very active outdoors and enjoyed canoeing, camping, swimming, hiking, cycling, and cross-country skiing, and was still going for long walks until early this year. He was an active member in the Lutheran church throughout his life, most recently at St. Ansgar, and his Christian faith was an important part of him.
Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to consider St. Ansgar Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice. Expressions of sympathy may be shared through London Cremation Services 519-672-0459 or online at www.londoncremation.com
