Obituary
Henry Peter Klooster, age 91, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth on Saturday, December 24, 2022. Born in Hoogland, Holland, son of the late Willem and Johana (Grootevheen) Van Klooster. Henry is survived by his true love and best friend Rita (Tolboom) Klooster who he married on November 6, 1954. Henry was the proud father of Wayne (Sharon), Henry (Kandy-Joy), John (Linda), Mary Ann (Tom) Riley, Jane (Paul) Hartman and Brian (Nancy). He cherished being Opa to Andrew, Casandra, Nathan, Amanda, Craig, Ben, Kate, Chris, Derek, Ian, Glenn, Karl and Raymond and G-Opa to 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Arie, Wim, Kees, Johan and sister Alie Hoogland and many nephews and nieces both in Canada and Holland.
Henry was predeceased by his parents, infant son James, granddaughter Alida, brothers Piet, Frans and Tony, and by his much-loved daughter-in-law Sharon.
Henry and Rita operated a dairy farm for many years in Southeast Hope Township. His son Henry, daughter-in-law Kandy Joy, grandson Craig and his wife Tonile, joined him on the farm and have always made him proud as they carry on his legacy. He was a member of the Ontario Farmer’s Federation and Oxford Milk Marketing Board.
Henry was a faithful member of St. Joseph Church, and in the role of usher, greeted many parishioners every Sunday. For many years Henry volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul and Spruce Lodge. He embraced retirement taking on the challenges of curling and lawn bowling. Throughout his life Henry was an avid card player and spent many happy hours playing with dear friends and family and passed on his love of games to his children and grandchildren.

Friends and relatives are invited to St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church 96 Huron St, Stratford on Thursday, December 29, 2022, for a visitation at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Avondale Cemetery. Those who are not able to attend Mass in person may view the service through live stream by clicking on the view live stream button. Reception and luncheon will take place in St. Joseph Parish Hall.
