Henry Joseph Roach 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Henry Joseph Roach on Monday, January 31, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born September 5, 1927, at home in Leitches Creek, North Sydney, he was the son of the late Matthew and Laura Grace (Wilkie) Roach.
Henry was predeceased by his wife, Marie Elizabeth McMullin; sisters, Anne and Sarah; longtime special friend and companion, Emma Nickerson; and son, William Joseph Roach.
Henry was a farmer his entire life who enjoyed growing his garden every year, working outdoors and especially loved “Square Dancing”.
He worked as an orderly at St. Rita’s Hospital, as well as Brookfield Dairy and Cape Breton Dairy. At age 43, he was hired as a provincial Milk Inspector for the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture for Cape Breton and Guysborough County until he retired in 1988.
Henry was an animal lover and will be missed by his “special friends”, Cloe, Loki and Ms. Fluff.
Henry is survived by a daughter, Linda Marie, who cared for him when he came to live with her until his passing, Sydney; sons, Ronald Roach (Nancy), Winnipeg, MB and Bill McMullin (Cheryl), Halifax; sisters, Ellen MacDonald (Colin), Antigonish and Selene Murphy (Joseph), Annapolis Valley; brother, Fred; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, out West.
As per Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and cards, a donation may be made to an animal shelter of your choice.
