Obituary
It is with shock and sorrow that the family of Hank wants to announce his sudden passing to meet his Lord on Saturday, May 28, after an extremely short illness.
Hank was predeceased by his parents, Hendrik and Lena Eschbach, and his two older sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Joan, 2 sons: Ralph, and Brian (Pam), 2 daughters: Diane (Brian), and Susan (Les), 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, as well as cousins, nephews, and nieces in the Netherlands.
Hank was born and raised in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, where he met, and in 1956, married his wife. Having worked for Holland America Lines, he had been at the West Coast before, and in 1957, they decided to emigrate to Vancouver. Hank found work as a welder/fitter and worked throughout the Lower Mainland. In 1974, they moved to the Boundary country and started a delicatessen. Hank enjoyed singing and was a choir member in several churches. He took early retirement in 1989 and moved to Okanagan Falls. He spent his summers doing maintenance work at a Bible camp in Saskatchewan and in 1994 joined the Okanagan Gleaners Society. He volunteered there until 2006 when a heart attack forced him to cut back on volunteer work. He stayed involved with the senior group in his church but gradually cut back on that as well.
There will be a memorial service at Providence Funeral Home at 2 pm on Friday, June 3rd, 2022. Internment at a later date.
In memory of Hank, donations can be made to Tribal Trails TV, c/o Northern Canada Evangelical Mission (Box 3020, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan S6V 7V4).
No goodbye Hank just “tot ziens!”
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Hendrik Hank Eschbach July 16 1930 May 28 2022 (age 91)..
